    Hello Everyone

Welcome to the 2017 TB keeper thread.

At the time of this threads creation, we have an open spot.

Let's kick off a discussion about the rules and draft day/time.

What say you all about Monday September 4th 9 pm EST for a draft?

    Keeper Laws:

    1. Maximum of 3 keepers per team. Minimum of zero.
    2. Keepers will move up one draft round in value.
    3. You can not keep your first round draft pick (because that player can not move up in value).
    4. Free agent keeper pickups will either be round 6 value OR one round higher than last draft round for that player. For example:
    A. An un drafted player has a round 6 value.
    B. A player drafted in the 10th round and then cut can be picked up and kept in the 9th round.
    C. A player drafted in the second round can be picked up and kept in the first round.
    5. Traded players retain their keeper value on their new teams.
    6. If there is a situation where you have two keepers in the same round - they always will move up to the higher round, never backwards to the lower round.
    7. After final game of regular season fantasy schedule - you can not keep any free agents added.

What do we want to add/fix/change?

I'd like to at least get rid of the kicker and possibly the defense. Useless and would rather have the 2 roster spots.

Also, has the draft order been set yet?

It's set based on your antes. I need to go through and average out all the rankings which I probably won't do until I get back from vacation. I'd say expect those by Aug 19th. You will get a choice of what pick you want. You chose in the order based on your ante ranking.

I can keep Jordy and Ajayi in the 7th and 8th based on these rules right?

Hey guys - I was thinking about the "David Johnson Rule" and how we can make things a bit more stretegic regarding keepers.

I know that "limiting years you can keep a guy" was tossed out there. Here's a solution:

    1. Everyone on your team is grandfathered in forever meaning you can keep a guy if he's on your team now until he gets to round one.
    2. If you draft a player, and don't cut them, you can keep them until they reach round one.
    3. If you trade for a player you can keep them forever until round one.
    4. If you add a player off waivers, their value stays the same as it did before (see keeper laws) but you can only keep them for two seasons.

    Thoughts?

I may be misremembering, but I thought it was 6th round or past draft round, whichever is closest to the 1st? That would minimize the issue.

No. Previously, a player who was drafted retained their draft value even if they were traded or waived. The sixth round rule only applied to players who went unstated. For example, I picked up Jordan Reed off waivers two years ago and was able to keep him with a 12th round pick.

Regarding keepers, I propose that the deadline to set your keepers be Monday, August 28 at 9 PM. That is a day after the 3rd preseason game and gives people a week to try to figure out how to draft based on everyone's keepers.

just so i am clear u were able to keep reed because he was drafted in the 12/13th round

def agree with keepers being designated a week early

it was a wild draft year once keepers were designated at least for me

Yes, Reed was drafted in the 13th the year I grabbed him off waivers so last year I kept him with a 12th rd pick.

I'm good with draft date and time.
As far as kickers goes. That doesn't really matter to me but I will say that is going to make the waiver wire very dry. With 3 WRs a flex and an IR it can get real sticky. If everyone wants to get rid of kickers for the roster spot I'm not going to go against the grain but just want to point out the implications of it.
As far as the "David Johnson Rule" I don't really have a problem with the way we have things. Now granted I am the one who has David Johnson so I may be looking at it through different glasses. If enough people want rule changes I say put a poll up and lets vote on them. I don't mind making changes to make the game better but I'm a little against change stuff just for the sake of changing it.
