For now, the best possible all-around resource for new traders is AleWatcher's comprehensive write-up (link).

    More to come...

And of course, feel free to post here if you've got some tips on the finer points of becoming a highly respected beer trader.

We'll have to use the other site to stalk wants. Or memorize the big wants.

If your serious about having a separate wants list, create 2 cellarHQ accounts, 1 wants, 1 gots

or just take the great beer that the people of this site will send. Not like the shelf turds that the other site/Backfat sends.

Seems a decent enough place to ask.
Is it acceptable/suggested to ask a BIF recipient to provide feedback? It's not a trade (i.e. sender didn't get any beer back), but BIFs are good for the community.

Yes IMO, any tranaction should be rated, trade, bif, lif, muling etc.

  12. If this is the case, can BIF threads be made transaction threads? Gene?

They do count, but the way the trade feedback system works, feedback can only be between a thread starter and any thread participant. Thus:

Muling, as in "This guy/lady was awesome and #goandpickitupformebro a bottle of that Brewery X anni beer," or "My buddy @username stood in line with me to get me an extra Beer Y. Would stand in line with/10."
Maybe my sarcasm detector isn't working...

In my opinion, the feedback system is to let someone know if you are a good person or not. I'd say picking up and sending bottles at cost to people on this site is a pretty good testament to their character. So I'd include it.

But yeah I agree, any transaction in which someone did something notable/good for you should be acceptable for feedback. Muling, #goandpickitupformebros, et al.

What feedback do I leave for recipient? "Would pack deep and ship to/10"?

It isn't required, you don't both HAVE to leave feedback.

So for the recipient, nothing, unless they sent you a thank you box or something?

Question: in order to put some folks' minds at ease and build up feedback here, I've been given the advice that I could request/provide feedback for successful trades completed elsewhere, but with people who are also registered here. How does one do this? I found a previous trade partner - Lasering I'm looking at you! - but it's "required" to include a trade thread link, which is impossible.

    A little help?
