Bought a bottle of Low Gap 4 Year Whiskey out of California and I am quite impressed. Fairly complex with a banana undertone, nutmeg and cinammon notes and a mild brown sugar sweetness to make it super drinkable.

No matter what it may be once you taste it, I'll guarantee it's better than the taste of the corked bottle of Elmer Lee I paid $65 for. That shit literally tasted like dirt.

    Never again, ha!

Like TCA wine "corked?" Did you dispose of the bottle already?

There's a theory that if you submerge saran wrap in corked wine somehow the polarity of the saran wrap attracts the TCA, and you can get the corked taste out. I googled for it (since sometimes I misremeber what I've read or can't find what I'm talking about...), and hot damn the best hit was for someone successfully doing it with ETL from last year!!! https://www.straightbourbon.com/community/topic/23984-removing-tca-cork-taint-from-my-elmer-t-lee/

First time for MWND. I can tell it's extremely well done, but a tad sweet for me.

Just saw this on the shelf for the first time tonight (Act 4 Scene 5) but passed for the time being. Price was fair I think ($75) but I haven't had anything from High West and hesitated. Will definitely seek out some pours in the near future though since I'm also not a huge fan of too much sweetness in my whiskey.

Well I'm easily convinced to try new booze. If that bottle (there was only 1) is still on the shelf when I leave work I'll be giving this a try.

My go-to was Henry McKenna 10 year BIB, but I haven't been able to find that in RI for the past couple months for some reason so I'm branching out and trying to find a replacement for that. Are any other High West bottles worth grabbing? I think the shop had American Prairie, Yippee-Ki-Yay, Rendezvous Rye, and Double Rye.

What is everyone's thought in the norlan glass? I got a pair and I enjoy using them more than I thought. It really opens up the nose on some higher proof stuff.

Both the Ryes. I can almost always find Double Rye for around $27, great bottle for the price.

Like everyone else said grab the Rye's, I love Rendezvous. I have seen the Yippee and bourye around me but they have gotten mixed reviews from what I read. I was talking to a shop owner yesterday at MWND and he said they only got 1 bottle this past year and he bought it for himself, he said their allocation has been getting smaller and smaller every year on it.
