I'm planning ahead for June when I'm in town for FWI. Please share some bars I should be focusing on, thanks!
Michters #1 barrel strength rye is super duper
That is all
Sometimes I don't mind when the lady goes to antique stores
Buddy went down to Kentucky and brought this back for me.
First Willet experience. 3 yr rye. Neat.
Rye. Spice. Cinnamon. Mint.
Probably worth the $35 I paid but will likely pass on this year's 4 yr if I see it.
Goddamn where did you get a 3 yr for $35?
On business near Rochester, NY last summer.
Rarely see any shelf Willett here in the Mid-Atlantic.
Hey I just booked a trip to SF with my wife, May 3-6, can you recommend any good food places? We're not picky when it comes to restaurants, anything good and not touristy.
In addition to the previous mentions I researched some bars, not sure if we'll get to all of these - House of Shields, Comstock, rickhouse, mikeller, elixir, toronado, nihons, zeitgeist, shotwells, monks kettle, last chance saloon
thank you cheers!
50$ for a pour od Pappy 20. Pass or Smash?
I'd pass but I've been lucky enough to have Pappy 20 a few times.
That said, I did pay $35 for a pour of WLW last year at Pro Pig. And it was worth it.
I would smash, but just once.
Opened a 2016 alongside cyde for his wedding. Heavy vanilla with a caramel backend. Almost too sweet for my liking.. almost.
noc noc, crafty fox, willows, bloodhound
mandalay, outerlands, una pizza napoletana, rhea's deli, deli board, ramen underground, pizzetta 211, just 4 you cafe
sightglass, 4 barrel, blue bottle
I smashed cause its to raise money for my kids school and I will get drink some others too at the tasting.
i also got 2 blind beers and 1 blimd wine bottle for 30 bucks. gonna open later tonight
beers and wine I also got from the beer pull
Not really a fan od Duel but will give it a try, Marble Imperial Stout is solid IMO and have no clue on what to expect from the wine. But overall tbis was my first Beer and wine Pool/pull and there are pretfy fun.
Thanks man! Wow these looks like great neighborhood places, these definitely did not come up with my research. One thing i'm noticing is that lots of bars have pool tables, which is awesome cause we love to play.
If you're ever on the east coast hit me up.
Anyone spot EH Taylor Four Grain in Northern California or California at all?
Knob Creek Single Barrel - Store Picks showdown.
Binny's #1 (Barrel 3901)
Binny's #2 (Barrel 1484)
Spec's #1 (K4-42-1-12)
Spec's #2 (K4-41-1-9)
Nose - Plentiful beam yeast funk and baking spices. Underlying sawdust.
Taste - Huge spice pop followed by oak; not overly bitter nor particularly rich.
Nose - Vanilla (softer), candy, and flora. Underlying tobacco and oak.
Taste - More balanced, rich oak. Somewhat medicinal (like a cherry acidity) and semi-hot finish.
Nose - General sweetness; vanilla (heavier), cinnamon.
Taste - Lighter fruit, banana, tea, oak tannin.
Nose - Rounded, honey'ed yeast and tobacco; dark fruit.
Taste - Heavy bitterness and more noticeable yeast character.
Nose - Total toss up but I could see arguments for Binny's #1 or Spec's #1.
Taste - Spec's #1 is the winner (the most complex with the least heat)... the other three are a toss up for second.
I would say that these are all more similar than not, especially compared to Four Roses store picks which vary greatly.
