There’s no VW Rye this year so no need to worry about that.
Got these two beauts yesterday. Will be getting into them this weekend.
I tried ordering a Henry McKenna 10 at a bar to give it a try. Bartender said it was $22. Hahaha. I guess that's why they don't show prices on their whiskey list. They had a botttle of Handy I was interested in, but after that I was scared to know how much.
WTF, the bottle was $25.
Excited to try both of these this weekend.
Fucking R train was delayed Friday night so I decided to walk the 1.5 miles home from 59th st in Brooklyn. Walked into a pretty crappy liquor store along the way and saw this on shelf for $179. Love that fucking R train!
That's crazy! I just put it on at my place for $8.
I've never traded in whiskey before, so I could use some feedback. Would trading Van Winkle 10 and/or 12 land an Eagle Rare 17 and/or Sazerac 18? I know the numbers are way off, but does the Van Winkle name make up for it? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
Saz18+ for ORVW+Lot B, sizeable plus. Lot B+ for ER17, ORVW++ for ER17
By +, are we talking beer? How far off is both for both?
First time with the second iteration of the TB 4R pick. Big thanks to Compton. As always, I love 4R and the endless options that all seem to work depending on the day. This is a bit thinner than expected, but the taste is spot on with the lingering spice. Easy drinking at 57% as well. I need into this TB bottle program.
So happy I got a backup for this bottle.
$15 at Costco. How bad can it be?
Sure beats $42 at HF, or prices I've seen (paid) on BLiS.
EDIT: $40 on Crown's website. https://www.crownmaple.com/crown-maple-shop/bourbon-barrel-aged-maple-syrup
Walk by this all the time and can never decide whether to buy. LMK what you think of it.
Local spot has EC 18 for $125 + tax if anyone needs a pickup.
Anybody else experience this with Kentucky Owl Rye? Little bit of cloudiness in the bottom of each of my bottles, as seen in the pic. Seems like something is settling out...
I am beginning to think the one time I won a lottery was when no one else entered, since then no matter the bottle count I am coming up empty. Feels bad man.
Traded for these bad boys, looking forward to getting in to them
Just looked, and my bottle has some wispy cloudiness also at the bottom. Not as prominent as that, but enough to notice.
Mostly a guess but I'd chalk it up to fatty deposits/acids from the barrel settling into place. I've seen this a number of time in non-chill filtered, cask strength bottlings of both single malt and american whiskey.
Most people would value those bottles around these values (-$50 for motivated sellers/ +$50 for fishing)
Lot B $400
ER17 or Saz18 $600.
You wouldn't need both bottles to score one, but you're at least a couple hundred bucks off.
ER17 '17 was small bottling so ignore people fishing for big bucks on that one. Usually they make plenty of it, and typically it and Handy are the least desirable/valuable BTAC.
