I'm trying to finish off a 10-year BCS vertical with all variants including the new release, but want to confirm the full lineup. Having trouble finding this list on the Google, Untappd or the usual places, so hopefully the TB community can help. I'm not including Pre-2005 BCS, as I'm not sure if those exist in the wild anymore, nor do I want to trade for them. Not including King Henry or Big John, as technically, I don't believe they were part of the BCS lineup. The asterisk includes the ones that I'm still missing.

2014 BCBS had two batches (at least) with different ABV

Also 2013 was the first Barleywine
While the ABV differences are true, I'm pretty sure every year, different batches had different ABV, but Goose Island just didn't care about changing the label. Meaning it's not worth tracking this down because then you'll start trying to track down all batches and just go crazy.

I don't think I'm going to worry about the ABV versions of the '14 release, though I do recall the bottles listing the ABV. I think I have 2 versions - 13.45% and 14.25% (not exactly).

That said, there appears to be sufficient difference between the beer in the 2009 12 and 22 oz sizes to justify obtaining both.

So 2007 is Pappy only or are there two variations? I have a 2007 BCS 12 oz bottle but have not studied it closely.

I'll be nice since this thread is a legitimate inquiry for information and stop this before it gets started: there is no 2007 Pappy 12oz, it's an internet myth/meme that pops up on the various forums periodically.

Julian, please. There's a ****ing chart and everything.

21 year Pappy barrels. Super ****ing legit.

I'm kinda amazed you've come as far as you have with what seems to be fairly limited knowledge of the series.

Oh, ye shall bow down before the walking BCS wikipedia, Boogercrack.

Now, for those of you who aren't snark-filled jackasses, back to my question - are there 2 different bottles of 2007 or just one? I have a 2007 12 oz bottle. Looks like from lurchingbeast that there are potentially 2 variations, but not sure if they are noted or not.

There are not. Ignore the pappy jokes, it was disproven a while ago.

It is weird that you wouldn't include me with the 'snark-filled jackasses'.

There are two bottling dates for '07. Unfortunately, that was at the time when they didn't care to accurately list the abv.

No, you were actually quite helpful! Thanks for the clarification. I'm sticking with my one '07 bottle.

In addition to what lurchingbeast said, the myth has developed because there is no way to tell (i.e. it's never been confirmed or explicitly denied) that the bottlings correspond to different barrel treatments or if it's all a blend. But of course it never completely dies off.

I was going to say it's the "Bill McCreary never played another NHL game after he laid out Wayne Gretzky" of the beer world, but -THAT- particular myth has been conclusively disproven yet still persists.

Thank you. I hadn't had a chance to update the edits. Is this is "definitive", final list?

I've seen 2 12 ounce bottles of Violet Hour with my own eyes before. I don't know what year 2011 or 2012. Hand bottled probably employee only. It's not official obviously but if you're looking to upgrade to full blown baller status for your tasting it at least exists or existed.

Looks like a few check-ins on Unatppd for Violet Hour this year. I'm too lazy to try to acquire something like this, though I could be tempted...

Violet hour?

Was a variant where Goose Island took a used BCS barrel, gave it to the Violet Hour (a high end cocktail bar in Chicago) for them to age their premade manhattan blend in, and then when that was finished Violet Hour gave it back to Goose Island who aged a new batch of BCS in it. Also was called Manhattan BCS (not sure if they did multiple batches or not).

Also if we are getting into non-officially released variants this list can get absurd. Had a pour from a counter pressure filled bomber of Ghost Pepper BCS a few years back that was glorious.
