I don't trade too often since I've been happy with what I've got. So, now that I'm thinking about pursuing a rather large trade (for me, at least), I'm entering unknown territory. Beer Advocate doesn't seem like the place to ask about trade value, so I thought I'd ask here, even though I don't have trading privileges. What I'll be asking for is:

Ale Apothercary - La Tache (unfruited preferred, only 2017 batches)

Ale Apothercary - Sahalie (unfruited preferred, only 2017 batches)

Casey - Grape or Blackberry variants of The Cut or Family Preserves (2017 batches only)

Hill Farmstead - Arthur (October '16 batch preferred, otherwise interested in '17 batches)

    Plus one of

Side Project - Oude du Ble (blend #2 preferred)

    Funk Factory - Frampaars

    de Garde - Violet Premiere

I'll probably have to do multiple smaller trades, but ideally I do a single large trade, and I'm not sure how that affects any thing. I was thinking of the following offer(s):

ADWTD Double Oak + Puga Rum Raison for the two Ale Apothecary bottles.

Puga Vanilla Rye + Royale '17 for the Casey bottle.

'95 till Infinity for the bottle of Arthur.

Pappy Barrel no. 1 for the Side Project, Funk Factory, or de Garde add on.

I'm ignorant of the trade value that a lot of these bottles command (especially Ale Apothecary), so I could be off on some of these, hence this thread.

I think you're going quite overboard on your offers. Regular La Tache and Sahalie are among Ale Apothecary's flagship beers and now more regularly available in Oregon (they might even still be on the shelves in San Diego since they are pricey). I'm pretty certain Puga Royale by itself could pull one of the Casey bottles you're interested in. The Abnormal bottles seem to be in high demand so they should be able to pull multiples of shelf HF like Arthur or various de Garde bottles. I would take you up on your offer of Pappy Barrel No 1 for a Violet Premiere but feel terrible because I think I'd be ripping you off. Your biggest challenge in trying to do this in one trade is that the breweries are kind of all over the place regionally (but then again I wouldn't be surprised if there are people out there with some combination of the bottles you're looking for).

Thanks. Yeah, I've seen Ale Apothecary in nearby bottle shops, but I missed my chance at buying them. Since they seem pretty small batch I thought maybe even the flagships could be hard to pull. Anyways, good to get some direction.

Obligatory: We would normally delete as this feels a lot like circumventing the trade qualification and posting an offer outside of ISO:FT, but Blackmill did acknowledge that fact. Also, it’s clear he’s legitimately looking for help and not trying to get one over on anybody. He’s also fairly close to being eligible for ISO:FT anyway.

Yeah, that wasn't my intent, though I understand your concern.

For the record, I did my due diligence, and first asked about trade value on FB groups dedicated to the breweries I'm interested in. But, aside from getting mostly uninformative answers, I wasn't let in to the Casey or Ale Apothecary groups. So I couldn't even ask about those bottles.

I did consider asking on Beer Advocate where I have trading privileges. But, based on past experience and the response I got on FB, I'm pretty sure I would have received a ton of (mostly unrelated) offers and relatively little advice. And I really didn't want to parse all that noise.

I'm also in Berkeley, while my bottles are in San Diego, so I'm about 500 miles from trading.

Just pretend beer advocate doesn't even exist...

I don't know much about those bottles but Arthur should be very easy pull. I'm a bit too far removed to comment on the other stuff but I'm sure box_social can help out with some stuff since he's a puga fiend, along with being a gentleman and a scholar.

I can help out with any AA bottle questions/ requests if needed. The tasting room (as of last night) still has A TON of extra bottles for sale as well.

    LMK if I can help.

    Cheers
