I made this thread so that people could post pics of their fish, fly rods, flies, or whatever else should go in a fishing thread.

I will post my stuff when I take pics the next time I go out.

I am fairly new to fly fishing so I've only got a 5wt Allen Xa. Next rod will be one for atlantic salmon/steelhead. Maybe a 7/8wt. Not sure what exact setup yet.

  7. I fish here for smallmouth, landlocks (if I get up early enough in the year), perch when I'm hungry, and pickerel if I'm feeling especially self-hating. Normally troll or spincast, fly fish on occasion and have a shitload of gear, but I'm not very good at it and am normally boat fishing because I'm on a lake.

Sometimes I go fish in little rivers and then I usually fly fish.

Where do you fish? Just up in Maine?

    Edit: You just answered this.

  9. Yeah, usually. I don't have the dedication or time to fish the rest of the year usually, and the fishing is so much better than anything else I can easily get to anyway that it's not worth it to me to fish very much elsewhere. I'm usually up there many weekends between memorial day and labor day plus a few weeks solid in july or august, so i get a good amount in, especially because I do very little else up there beside drink.

Might go ice fish this winter.

When I spincast I go to Spot Pond or this reservoir right near it. Pretty decent fishing there.

Fly fishing here has been tough for me, but the Deerfield, Swift, Squanacook, and Quinapoxet have fish though I don't catch many.

    Finally!!!

I'm actually up in Mammoth Lakes, CA right now for a 10 day fly fishing trip. Drinking Heady and watching the Dodger game, then it is sit down at the tying bench to bang out a few patterns for the week. This thread will (hopefully) be blown up all week long with pics of large trout and tube beers.

    Will be doing this...

Post up some of your patterns please! Next step for me is learning how to tie. Maybe this winter.

I do mostly still water stuff, so you are gonna get a bunch of streamers and nymphs. My dries are sloppy.

I fly fish streams and rivers about 90% of the time. Occasionally I'll spin from from my Dad's river boat, or on one of the lakes.

But the rivers and streams are too tempting. I live 2 hours or less from so many world class fly fishing spots. (rivers like the Sacramento, Trinity, McCloud, Pit, Fall, and Klamath)

I'm trying to get out Saturday on the Sacramento. There is a great spot about 3 mins from my house.

I'll post some pics tomorrow night if possible. Cheers!

Just a couple nice catches. I'm usually out by myself and I never bother to bring a camera. Already have enough crap to carry through the woods.
