Other Booze Mixed Drink Recipes

    Post your mixed drink recipes here!

    I'll start it off the Ol' Fashioned way!

    Old Fashioned

    1 shot Bulleit Bourbon
    1 Sugar cube
    2 dashes Angostura Bitters
    1 Luxardo Maraschino Cherry (not those bright red ones)
    1 piece Orange Zest (LIKE THIS)

    Instructions

    1. Muddle the sugar cube in an Old Fashioned glass with 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters and 1 dash of water.
    2. Fill glass with ice cubes
    3. Add 1 shot of Bulleit Bourbon
    4. Add Maraschino Cherry
    5. Take orange zest piece and squeeze the oils over the rim of the glass and spritz the top of this drink with it. Add the zest to the drink after.
    6. Enjoy.

    First created to highlight the more mellow tones of Canadian whiskey, this Fernet Branca-flecked classic becomes decidedly more assertive when mixed with American rye.

    2 oz. rye or Canadian whiskey (My go to is Bulleit)
    1/4 oz. Fernet Branca
    1/4 oz. simple syrup (1:1)
    2 dashes Angostura bitters (optional)

    Garnish: strip of orange peel

    Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well for 20 seconds and strain into a chilled glass. Twist orange peel over the drink and use as garnish. (I usually just pour it over ice into a rocks glass).

    Take glass, any will do as long as it is clean.

    Pour very good bourbon into glass.

    Drink it and enjoy.

    While drinking it come back and visit this thread to mock those who drink *mixed drinks*

    Bourbon Flip -
    1.5 oz Bourbon (I've been using Bulleit)
    .75 oz simple syrup
    1 egg
    *Shake like crazy and pour into pint glass
    Then top off w/Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale

    Is it one whole egg or just the egg white? One sounds a bit more gross than the other.

    The whole damn thing. Don't judge it til you try it. So good. The yolk gives it a bit of creaminess. All it needs is a bit of malt powder and you'd have a bourbon malt.

    Pretty much all of the above except for AnnArborJoe's, he's Mexican so he only drinks tequila.

    I was at a wedding the other weekend and was having the bartender blend Bombay Sapphire with Grey Goose, 50/50, poured over ice, topped off with a lime. I promise, it is better than it sounds.

    This was sarcasm, right? Literally every post (minus AnnArborJoe's) calls for Bulleit Bourbon.


    I really need to play poker with MordorMongo...

    Rum
    Triple sec
    Scotch
    Bourbon
    Brandy
    Orange juice
    Pineapple juice


    No idea on the proportions, as I have't had one since middle school. But I think the basic answer "a shitload" for all ingredients except the juice, since it is basically meant to make the Long Island Iced Tea look like the domain of girly men.

    Here's a recipe for a mead-based cocktail that someone served to me during Mead Day this year. It was soooo damn good.

    Ice
    1 1/2 ounces mead of your choice
    1 ounce applejack
    1 ounce drambuie
    1/2 ounce Honey Syrup (look up simple syrup and replace sugar with honey)
    1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
    Dash of Angosura Bitters

    Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients and shake well. Strain the drink into a chilled glass.

    • 2 oz. bourbon
    • 2 oz. tonic water (approx)
    • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
    • 1 tsp lime juice
    • lime garnish
    1. Fill a highball glass halfway with ice
    2. Pour bourbon over ice
    3. Fill glass to top with tonic and then lime juice
    4. 2 dashes bitters
    5. Quick stir
    6. Garnish if you're soft
    The Dude had his signature drink in the White Russian, but Walter Sobchak - the unsung anti-hero of The Big Lebowski - did not. Now he does, and it's delicious. I usually mix this with Wild Turkey 101.
