I stepped away from the beer world for a while when my wife and I moved to Alaska from Texas. Introduced myself here and then faded into the background (insert Homer Simpson .gif). But I guess I'm re-introducing myself. Curious if there's any other ANC folks about. Either way, cheers! Looking forward to lurking, liking, and maybe posting.

I was just searching for Anchorage threads here (last one is from 2016).

I'll be around at the end of July for a couple of days as part of a larger vacation. How is the beer scene?

Not too shabby. Anchorage Brewing Company is my trusty standby now. Midnight Sun is good, Mooses Tooth for the pizza and they microbrew under Broken Tooth. Little bottle shop called La Bodega in town is good to bring stuff home. But, out of town is Bleeding Heart and if you want to haul, Talkeetna has Denali Brewing.

Big focus on local because of the cost to get stuff up here.

How is Glacier Brewhouse? Had some beers from them at FoBAB several years ago that I was very impressed by.

They are not bad, but they seem to stick to a normal set of standards and don't venture out much. Surprised they were at FoBAB, I don't see many, if any, BA offerings from them.

Looks like I had a Buffalo Trace barrel-aged Eisbock from them. I think that might have been what sent me over the edge at FoBAB that year.
