In my slightly buzzed state, I was going to suggest you use it for your 4th of July celebrations. Then my brain started working...

Just bought a bottle of it today. Yes, worth $9. I poured a healthy glass of it and sprinkled some cinnamon on top. The entire bottle might disappear tonight.

I love this recipe - http://www.chow.com/recipes/10758-best-eggnog though I will make it around Thanksgiving because it requires at least 3 weeks of aging. If you want to age it more, I've done batches around a year or so that have turned out just fine.

Ditto. I'm a big fan of this recipe (which is the one that Ruhlman uses as well). The age definitely helps round things out and is well worth the wait. I have a batch from 2009 that was still tasting amazing last year but I think this year is probably going to be the end of it. Sadly the 2010 batch broke and wasn't tasting quite as good so I'm probably going to have to throw that one out.

I'm so excite for holiday season. Nothing beats getting drunk on nog by noon and then doming an entire fruit cake that is way more booze than cake.

I've tried something new this year....AGED eggnog. Seriously. I put 1/2 the batch I made last year in the back of my fridge and I forgot about it for a year....just sampled it recently, and it's really nice! All the flavors have melded completely. This wasn't just a crazy idea of mine though, I read it from Ruhlman's blog...

    http://ruhlman.com/2013/11/friday-cocktail-hour-aged-eggnog/

I plan to make another batch, based largely on his recipe, with a few tweaks on my own (but yes, I like the bourbon, rum, and cognac combo....and fresh grated nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla beans)....and then I'll blend it with the aged, and set back 1/2 for another year. That's right...Solera method for eggnog.

I had a batch that was 3 years old last year (see post above) that was damn good and better than fresh. Keep it going!

I hate 99% of store-bought eggnog, except for the Chipwich stuff... so good. I pour it into quart mason jars with three shots of whatever and let them mellow out in the fridge for a week or so. Brandy is my personal favorite. I used Remy 1738 this year. Amazing.

I did a blend of my homemade eggnog with some Black Tuesday (about a 50/50 blend) and it was fantastic. Like a super boozey Black Tuesday Eggnog milkshake. Highly recommended.

Not sure what was up with imgur last night, but here's the before and after. I added brandy this year. I think it was a good addition.

Should I have repeated the ingredient list and instructions that were in my post on page 1 of this thread?

Made my recipe tonight (x4). Filled 2.5 growlers. I omitted the booze for the time being. I think I'll try one with bourbon, one with brandy, and another with rum.

This stuff is so good. Fresh nutmeg is the secret!
