It stands for "Ask Me Anything," and it's a thread where one person starts a thread, and everyone else asks them - you guessed it - anything. Typically, these threads are started by someone notable or interesting (people who work in various parts of the craft beer industry would be a great example in our case).
When posting in this forum, you can start an AMA thread by selecting the "AMA" prefix, or submit a request for someone to do an AMA by selecting the "Request" prefix.

UPDATED - how to do this right:
- When posting a request, make sure you're requesting a real person. Include a short explanation of who they are / why you think it would be cool to ask them some questions.
- Always include some way to contact the person you're requesting. If you can't provide a TalkBeer user name, a twitter handle, or something else, there's no use in posting the request!
- When answering questions, start a new AMA thread and specify how long you'll be available to answer. When you're done, say it! We'll lock the thread at that point.
