John Doe--Meet John Doe

Bass player for X makes his own record and brings Exene, Richard Lloyd and others along for the ride. A nice twangy, rockabilly, country thing going on here.

My pick for this year is Cocteau Twins, Heaven or Las Vegas. I love this album, but I consider it to be a notch below several of their earlier releases including Victorialand, Treasure, and Blue Bell Knoll. Definitely much poppier than those others, though a great record overall. Cherry-coloured Funk is right up there with some of their best tracks IMO. And I've always gotten an ABBA vibe from Ice Blink Luck.

Can we turn this thread back into #talkabba?

Was this picked and did I miss it?

Figured it would be your pick.

Big fan of this, but not i to the look that was going on at all.

This tune was actually a hit, under a different name and another album.

This was always the song that should have been a hit

All said this was the better album than the one they actually put out.

Still haven’t listened to any BAD after the first two albums. Other than Rush of course. I’ll need to get around to it soon.

The KLF - Chill Out

A mixtape recorded live in one go with loads of effects and loops added. My copy is a very dodgy sounding bootleg with the only official vinyl release being a promo in the US on Wax Trax! but that's $$$.

According to Discogs it's a concept album about a night time journey through the gulf states which makes sense now I know that but I had no clue about it until 5 mins ago. Loads of the tracks on it evolved into songs on their first real album The White Room which came out the following year.
